Here We Go

LP (Item 672613) Crossover, 1987 — Condition: Near Mint-
An unusual US release from Brazilian keyboardist Marcos Silva – with work from Mary Fettig on alto and flute, Richardo Peixoto on guitars, and Michael Spiro on percussion!  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jards Macale

4 Batutas & 1 Coringa
Continental (Brazil), 1987. Very Good-
Nice! Although the early work of Jards Macale from the 70s was a lot more experimental, this album features this oft-overlooked Brazilian singer doing a nice batch of material that pays tribute to some of Brazil's greatest singers from an earlier age. Macale's voice is as fantastic as always ... LP, Vinyl record album

Como Dizia O Poeta... Musica Nova
RGE (Brazil), 1971. Near Mint-
The poet and the guitarist get together for a set of tracks with Marilia Medalha on vocals, and some nice lively backing by a larger group. Elis (1977)
Philips (Brazil), 1977. Near Mint-

Caetano Veloso & Gilberto Gil

Tropicalia 2
Philips (Brazil), 1993. Near Mint-
Well, it's not the 60s anymore – but this is still a wonderful album that reunites Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil in the spirit of their Tropicalia years – done in a style that shows that creative invention was still alive in MPB during the 90s! There's echoes here of modes to come by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jards Macale

Contrastes
Som Livre (Brazil), 1977. Near Mint-
A straighter album than some of the early experimental work of Jards Macale – but maybe a greater album as well – and one that really shows the singer coming into his own, and finding a way to nestle his fresh ideas within the best settings of 70s MPB! The shift's a bit like the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Baden Powell with Marcia

Show/Recital
Philips (Brazil), 1968. Very Good
A great album by Baden Powell – very much in the spirit of his Afro Sambas classic! The rare recording was done with Os Originais Do Samba, who join Baden on most of the record to really liven things up. The group add in vocals and heavy percussion to Baden's guitar – making tracks ... LP, Vinyl record album
