Life Stories

LP (Item 672187) Warner, 1986 — Condition: Near Mint-
A huge one from the mighty Earl Klugh – and the kind of record that reminded the world that he was still one of the most unique fusion talents around! Earl's got this perfect way of blending acoustic and electric elements with effortless ease – his own soft string solos and warmer R&B charts – all laid out with this sound that's beyond compare, and which may even work better here than on some of Klugh's records from a few years before. Most tracks are originals – although the album does include a great cover of the Isleys' "For The Love Of You" – alongside titles that include "Return Of The Rainmaker", "The Traveler", "Just For Your Love", "Second Chances", "Debra Anne", and "Santiago Sunset".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A real breakout album for Earl Klugh – the kind of record that got him on the a-list of fusion players for the rest of the 70s! The title here is especially well-chosen – as the tunes have a gently colorful feel that's never too slick, despite the tighter setting of the album – ... LP, Vinyl record album

A damn great early moment from David Sanborn – a record that really shows the reedman at his best – working some tight solos over soulful backings in the same 70s manner as Tom Scott or Wilton Felder! A nice collaboration between Miles and Marcus Miller from the latter part of Miles career. Encore
Warner, 1978. Near Mint-
An overdue reunion for Brian Auger and Julie Driscoll (now billed as Tippetts) – and a late 70s session that sounds quite a bit different than their mod soul of the 60s!
