Best From Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass – Dee Jay Sampler

LP (Item 669657) A&M, Late 60s — Condition: Near Mint-
(€16.94 || £14.92 || ¥2234) (approx.)

(Stereo pressing. Cover and labels have a name in marker.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

South Of The Border
A&M, 1963. Near Mint-
Herb Alpert's going South Of The Border again in another marvelous set of modern mariachi tunes – taking that wonderful Tijuana Brass sound, and turning it towards a number of familiar hits of the day! There's equal parts 60s instrumental pop and Latin groove in the mix – and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Whipped Cream & Other Delights
A&M, 1965. Very Good
Trumpety magic from Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass – a record that's known not only for its classic cover of a model dipped in whipped cream, but also for it's tremendously groovy groove! The Tijuana sound is very firmly in place by the time of this set – Mexican-inspired, but ... LP, Vinyl record album
Warm
A&M, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A fantastic record from the late 60s years of Herb Alpert – a time when the trumpeter was really opening up his sound, and starting to hit some of the same cool styles of his other great acts on the A&M label! Gone are the trademark Cali-Mex arrangements of the early Tijuana Brass ... LP, Vinyl record album
Make It Easy On Yourself
A&M, 1969. Very Good
Fantastic work by maestro Burt Bacharach – subtle genius, and an album that offers more to us every time we listen to it! Burt Bacharach (1971)
A&M, 1971. Near Mint- Gatefold
Insanely wonderful work by Bacharach – in a way that we can hardly begin to describe (but we'll certainly try!) By the time this one was recorded – 1971 – Burt's reputation as a songwriter and arranger were so firmly established that he had an incredible amount of freedom in the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Reach Out
A&M, 1967. Near Mint-
Fantastic! We love Burt Bacharach in so many ways that it's easy to forget the genius of these early A&M sides – but going back to them is always a treat, and it's wonderful to hear the way that Burt lays down his own work when given the chance! You know the tracks – "House ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sticks & Bones
RCA, 1959. Very Good
Sticks & Bones – percussion and trombones – a great little combination in the hands of hi-fi arranger Marty Gold! The album's one of Marty's most dynamic for RCA – a nice little set that soars with creative arrangements that definitely push the sound spectrum of the average ... LP, Vinyl record album
Esquivel 1968!
RCA, 1968. Near Mint-
This is such a great record! Unlike Esquivel's earlier albums for RCA, this one was recorded in Mexico, and issued mostly only in the Latin market, which has made it his hardest to get. The sound is a lot more Latin-oriented than his those sides, recorded with a tighter combo though the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Storm & The Sea – Sounds For Love
Warner, 1974. Very Good+
Warner Brothers' answer to the Environments series – a full set of "sounds for love", that is, water sounds, with one side of ocean noises (The Sea), and one side of a rain storm (The Storm). This kind of thing doesn't really put us in a lovin' mood (mostly because we keep running ... LP, Vinyl record album
