Black Forest Explosion!

LP (Item 6680) Motor (Germany), Late 60s — Condition: Near Mint-

Great collection featuring the best work of this groovy German piano player! Although he made some snoozy records in his day, this comp is definitely not one of them! Loads of great groovy funky piano tracks, with a cool european feel, and nice electric grooves. Some of these tracks came out in the U.S., but many of them didn't. Includes "Lazy", "Dreamflight", "Mas Que Nada", "Slick", and "Pink Balloon". Put together by the same folks who did the Lalo Schifrin comp, so you know the sound is right! Groovy package, too.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes inner sleeve.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mercury, 1966. Very Good+
Fantastic piano work from the very groovy Horst Jankowski – an artist who's really stepping into his own with this sweet mid 60s album! The set still follows the balance of electric bass and hard piano sounds from Horst – but it also fleshes out the music in a really great way, by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Limelight, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Wonderful funky fuzzy moogy! The cover proclaims that this is the "first album of electronic rock" – and although we don't know how true that is, the record's a nice batch of moogy covers – featuring tracks like "Grazin In the Grass", "Aquarius", "Penn ... LP, Vinyl record album

Good Vibrations
RCA/Victor, 1969. Very Good
Pre-moog work from Hugo Montenegro – but a set that's still pretty darn groovy! The Beach Boys reference in the title is very well put, as Hugo's using some cool harmony vocals for the record – a chorus that definitely takes some of its inspiration from Brian Wilson, singing here both ... Atlantic, Early 60s/1970. Near Mint-
Great lost work from Ornette Coleman – material recorded in New York and LA during the years 1959 through 1961 – never issued at the time, but pulled together in this wonderful package at the start of the 70s! Although not recorded as an official album, the record stands easily with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sketches Of Spain
Columbia, 1960. Near Mint-
A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects!
