Ruby Baby (Japanese pressing)

LP (Item 666880) Atlantic (Japan), Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: Near Mint-

Lots of classics from the second version of The Drifters – including some great tunes when they picked up a bit of swing in their step! Tracks include "Lonely Winds", "Oh My Love", "I'll Take You Where The Music's Playing", "Ruby Baby", "Adorable", "It Was A Tear", and "I Don't Want To Go On Without You".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Japanese pressing – with insert!)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Atlantic, 1965. Very Good+
The Drifters' last full album for Atlantic Records – and a rock-solid set that may well be one of their best for the label in the 60s! Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway
Atlantic, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold
An amazing record from the team of Flack & Hathaway – one of the hippest duos in soul! Change

Miracles
Atlantic, 1981. Very Good
A brilliant second set from Change – working here without Luther Vandross on lead vocals, but hardly missing a beat at all! Atlantic, 1975. Near Mint-
A great little record from Aretha – and on that always seems to get overlooked! Atlantic, 1987. Very Good
The great Leroy Burgess is still going strong on this later album from Aleem – shifting his sound to hit more of an 80s street soul groove, but one that's also got the tighter elements you'd expect from a major label set at the time! Roberta Flack

Eight Atlantic albums, and The Spinners are still going strong – sounding really wonderful here, thanks to Philly backings from the great Thom Bell!
