This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD".
This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer
Used CDs in the best shape possible.
When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or
defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs —
so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.
All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly —
and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.
A nice, cooking bop side, led by Red Garland and featuring 'Trane at his late 50s best, when he was moving between playing with the top East coast talents of the day, and playing with a ferocity that betrayed the direction he'd later take when he got really out. Donald Byrd's also in the frontline ... CD
One of the harder to find Red Garland sessions on Prestige – two records' worth of material that was issued on 4 different albums! The set is noteworthy not only for an excellent stretched out trio performance by Garland – working here with Specs Wright on drums and Jimmy Rowser on ... CD
Simple and soulful elegance from the great Red Garland – prime mid-50s material for Prestige, recorded here with incredible backing from Paul Chambers and Art Taylor! The tightness of the trio is amazing – but never so much so that it gets in the way of Red's warmly introspective modes ... CD
2 lost soul jazz sets from the mighty Billy Butler! This Is Billy Butler is one of the grooviest albums ever from the hip guitarist – a rock-solid session for Prestige that's filled with some amazing rhythms! The sound here is sockingly soulful, and very tight – a mixture of the jazz ... CD
A massively expanded package of music – filled with previously unreleased gems! The 2CD set features a landmark collaboration between John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk – two generations of jazz modern, working here to create some really incredible music! The core of this material is ... CD
Two organ and tenor classics – back to back on a single CD – with some bonus cuts too! Four Dimensions is sweet soulful work from the legendary Don Patterson – a great Prestige set that has tenorist Houston Person joining the organist's hip trio with Pat Martino on guitar and ... CD
Nothing fancy – but some great straight-ahead blowing from Stitt and Jug! The album's a quintet session, with John Houston piano, Buster Williams bass, and George Brown drums providing all the rhythm. But the real focus is on the twin-sax frontline – with Sitt taking up the alto on a ... CD
The Hawk Relaxes, but never lets himself go – and a set like this is a great illustration of the gentle genius that made so many later Coleman Hawkins records so great! The relaxed setting for this record is a perfect setting for Hawkins to open up and stretch out – working his tenor ... CD
A nice collection pulled together in the 80s by Fantasy from Stitt's organ-based sessions, that has a cool rolling groove throughout that you don't always find in some of his more bop-oriented sides. Sidemen include Jack McDuff, Don Patterson, Grant Green, Billy James and others, with 9 numbers in ... CD
A great record – or half-great, as the case may be! One part of this album features Billy with his standard trio of Earl May and Percy Brice, playing mellow piano trio versions of tracks that include "Tune For Tex", "Goodbye", "Biddy's Beat", and "Eddie's ... CD
