Kissing To Be Clever

LP (Item 665895) Virgin, 1982 — Condition: Near Mint-

(UK pressing. Includes the printed inner sleeve.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Captain Beefheart

Ice Cream For Crow
Virgin, 1982. Near Mint-
The final recording from the good Captian and his last crew, and one of our favorites. Sideways rhythms collide with arthritic guitar parts in a remarkable gumbo topped off by Don Van Vliet's unique lyrical vision. A modern classic! Includes "Ice Cream For Crow", "Semi Multi ... Architecture & Morality (die-cut cover)
Virgin, 1981. Near Mint-
A slightly warmer sound than before from OMD – an album of well put together pop tunes that still hold true to the simple basis of their roots! At this point, the group's really got their sound down wonderfully – and they've also learned how to write slightly better pop hooks than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Luxury Gap
BEF/Virgin (UK), 1983. Very Good
Heaven 17 soften up their politics a bit with this second album (yet still address class inequality issues with the title!) – but they also manage to replace their Marxist agenda with some groovier, more soul-based tunes – just the kind of material that helped push them out of import ... Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band

Unconditionally Guaranteed
Mercury, 1974. Near Mint-
Not the Captain's finest moment, but still better than 80% of all the records ever made. Zoot Horn Rollo and Rockette Morton are still on board to lend a helping hand on these fairly tame, by Beefheart standards, numbers, including "Upon The My-O-My", "Sugar Bowl", "New ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sire, 1978. Near Mint-
A seminal 70s set from this key Aussie band – one that almost had more of an impact here in the US than they did in their homeland!
