An incredible record of over the top arrangements – all produced with the kind of all-around sound that made Esquivel's best records so great! Juan Garcia's really got his trademark sound in place by the time of this set – and the album's got plenty of "wah wah" and "doo doo" vocals, mixed with swinging strings and soaring piano – in a sound that's perfectly summed up by the cover's "trombones into infinity" look. Titles include "Baia", "La Bamba", "Sentimental Journey", "Espana Cani", and "Lullaby Of Birdland". (Black label mono pressing. Cover has a split top seam.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hefti nicely follows up his first Batman LP – with a set of tracks that have an equally jazzy bounce to them! The tunes are a bit farther-stretching in terms of their "Batman" component, but still have a great Gotham City groove – nice and 60s, with the usual wonderful Hefti ... LP, Vinyl record album

Henry Mancini balances things out between the big screen of the cinema and the little screen of the TV – both showcases for his famous work over the years! Before he started getting funky with the moog, Hugo Montenegro was doing some very groovy stuff with large vocal arrangements. This album's one of his most perfectly realized in that vein, and features some great tracks that rework hip late 60s pop tracks into spacey vocal numbers sung by a mixed ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pre-moog work from Hugo Montenegro – but a set that's still pretty darn groovy! The Beach Boys reference in the title is very well put, as Hugo's using some cool harmony vocals for the record – a chorus that definitely takes some of its inspiration from Brian Wilson, singing here both ... Chorus vocals and jazzy orchestrations – a real standout from the classic HiFi years at RCA, and the kind of a set that makes us say "Mmmmm . . . Nice!" Key transitional work from Hugo – a record that has some of the groovy touches of his late 60s work, and some of the moogy touches of his 70s period!
