Infinity In Sound Volume 2

LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible record of over the top arrangements – all produced with the kind of all-around sound that made Esquivel's best records so great! Juan Garcia's really got his trademark sound in place by the time of this set – and the album's got plenty of "wah wah" and "doo doo" vocals, mixed with swinging strings and soaring piano – in a sound that's perfectly summed up by the cover's "trombones into infinity" look. Titles include "Baia", "La Bamba", "Sentimental Journey", "Espana Cani", and "Lullaby Of Birdland". (Black label mono pressing. Cover has a split top seam.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Strings Aflame
RCA, 1959. Very Good
Despite the "strings" in the title, this one actually swings quite well, and has a bit of an exotic gypsy flavor to it, augmented by cool spacey production that makes the strings hum with a strange other-worldly tonality. The set's filled with the usual crazy Esquivel arrangements, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA, 1958. Very Good+
One of the most memorable Esquivel albums, and perhaps the first record that really let him hit his fantastic mix of off-beat orchestrations and spacey electronicized production! Skin Tight
RCA, 1960. Very Good
Pretty skin tight stuff – as Marty and crew play more bongos than you'd ever hear in a beatnik hoedown! The set's a very percussive one, and is one of Gold's better outings on RCA – thanks to the tightly stretched skins of the bongo. Gold arranged all tunes, and some of them are bongo- ...
