An incredible record of over the top arrangements – all produced with the kind of all-around sound that made Esquivel's best records so great! Juan Garcia's really got his trademark sound in place by the time of this set – and the album's got plenty of "wah wah" and "doo doo" vocals, mixed with swinging strings and soaring piano – in a sound that's perfectly summed up by the cover's "trombones into infinity" look. Titles include "Baia", "La Bamba", "Sentimental Journey", "Espana Cani", and "Lullaby Of Birdland". (Black label mono pressing. Cover has some tape on the seams.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Quite possibly our favorite Esquivel album ever – a tremendous little session that was recorded for RCA's Stereo Action series – with incredible sound that leaps back and forth between each speaker! The notes describe the record as having a "block long sound" – given ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mancini's Angels
RCA, 1977. Near Mint-
Happy Hank surrounded by plenty of cleavage – a cover that's perfect for the album's title play on the hit Charlie's Angels show! Mancini does a great job with the theme to that one, and also adds in some cool keyboards you wouldn't have heard on the original – and the rest of the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pre-moog work from Hugo Montenegro – but a set that's still pretty darn groovy! The Beach Boys reference in the title is very well put, as Hugo's using some cool harmony vocals for the record – a chorus that definitely takes some of its inspiration from Brian Wilson, singing here both ... Cop Show Themes
RCA, 1976. Very Good-
One of the funkiest albums ever from Henry Mancini – a brilliant reworking of hit 70s cop show themes, put together with a really jazzy groove! Key transitional work from Hugo – a record that has some of the groovy touches of his late 60s work, and some of the moogy touches of his 70s period! Second set of swinging tracks, very much in the same vein as Buddy Morrow's crime jazz soundtracks cut for RCA at the end of the 50s! Yes, there's lots of snoozy 3 Suns records, but this isn't one of them. Housed in a beautiful "Stereo Action" series die-cut sleeve, this LP is groovy, swingin', and very dynamic. LP, Vinyl record album
