Infinity In Sound Volume 2

LP (Item 6575) RCA, 1961 — Condition: Used
Temporarily Out Of Stock

LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible record of over the top arrangements – all produced with the kind of all-around sound that made Esquivel's best records so great! Juan Garcia's really got his trademark sound in place by the time of this set – and the album's got plenty of "wah wah" and "doo doo" vocals, mixed with swinging strings and soaring piano – in a sound that's perfectly summed up by the cover's "trombones into infinity" look. Titles include "Baia", "La Bamba", "Sentimental Journey", "Espana Cani", and "Lullaby Of Birdland". (Black label mono pressing. Cover has some tape on the seams.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

RCA, 1960. Very Good
One of the maestro's greatest! From the instruments spiraling off to infinity on the cover, to the tracks played in the unique crazy Esquivel "wah wah" style, the album stands as one of the finest examples of (and obstacle courses for) modern high fidelity – a really dynamic set of ... RCA, 1958. Very Good
One of the most memorable Esquivel albums, and perhaps the first record that really let him hit his fantastic mix of off-beat orchestrations and spacey electronicized production! The arrangements are splendid, with echoey piano lines in the front that seem to trail off into the stratosphere. ... LP, Vinyl record album

Cop Show Themes
RCA, 1976. Near Mint-
One of the funkiest albums ever from Henry Mancini – a brilliant reworking of hit 70s cop show themes, put together with a really jazzy groove! Mmm Nice!
RCA, 1960. Very Good-
Chorus vocals and jazzy orchestrations – a real standout from the classic HiFi years at RCA, and the kind of a set that makes us say "Mmmmm . . . Nice!" The record's the only one we've ever seen by Bob Thompson, but it's a real doozy – a set that blends together mostly female ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1959. Very Good-
A pretty swinging batch of tracks that are very much in the same vein as Buddy Morrow's crime jazz LPs cut for RCA at the end of the 50s! The album features all TV themes from the time, most of them detective ones – like "Richard Diamond", "Perry Mason", "Naked ... LP, Vinyl record album
Soundpower!
RCA, 1962. Very Good+
An album with as much power as you'd expect from the title – and a set that's billed as featuring "Music To The Limits Of Audibility"! The limits explored are the farther ones in sound – not the lower tones at the end of hearing – and Marty Gold does a very good job of ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA/Victor, 1969. Very Good
Pre-moog work from Hugo Montenegro – but a set that's still pretty darn groovy!
