Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Live At Smalls
Smalls Live, 2008. Used
Trumpeter Ryan Kisor's got a great partner in the frontline here – alto player Sherman Irby, whose angular tones really give the record an edge! As we love in Irby's own sessions, there's a mix here of soulful and modern that's really wonderful – kind of an open flow on the horns, but ... CD

Warne Marsh

Star Highs
Criss Cross (Holland), 1982. Used
Although Marsh first came onto the scene as a modernist in the 50s, he's one of the few players of his generation who really held strong to his initial sound, continuing to craft records of understated genius for years to come. Tim Warfield

Criss Cross (Denmark), 2015. Used
A tribute to the music of Thelonious Monk, but one that's got plenty of Tim Warfield's own spirit as well! Orrin Evans handles the piano here, and while he's certainly equipped to bring out the angularity of Monk's music, he's got his own way of approaching the tunes that are nicely fresh – ... CD
Columbia, 1961. Used
The tenor sax here makes the album a standout – as John Coltrane still works with Miles Davis on 2 tracks for the record, but Blue Note stalwart Hank Mobley joins in on the rest! The approach is similar to that of the classic Coltrane/Davis years – and in a way, the record's kind of a ... CD
