Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jerry Goldsmith

Capricorn One
Warner, 1978. Very Good+
A bold score for a famous 70s astronaut film – penned by Jerry Goldsmith with almost the same sort of drama he might bring to a war thriller! The story itself is pretty dark – as the astronauts don't make it to space, but are forced into a Air Force base – and Goldsmith's music ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jim Helms

Kung Fu
Warner, 1973. Near Mint-
Not as much of an all-out funk party as some other kung fu soundtracks of the 70s – but a really great record that's filled with plenty of great spoken bits too! The album's the soundtrack to the Kung Fu TV show, which starred David Carradine – and it's mostly made up of "Eastern&q ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ennio Morricone

Exorcist II – The Heretic
Warner, 1977. Near Mint-
The actual film was weaker than the first Exorcist movie, but the soundtrack's a great one – a wonderful Ennio Morricone score, right up there with his better-known classics of the 70s! Some tracks have a full, sweeping style that's sublime – that compressed Morricone approach to ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ken Thorne/John Williams

Superman II – Original Soundtrack
Warner, 1981. Very Good
(On laser etched vinyl, with a mark that clicks on "Main Title March" and "Lift Into Space". Cover has a cut corner, hype sticker, and edge wear.) LP, Vinyl record album

Lalo Schifrin & Jerry Fielding

Sudden Impact & The Best Of Dirty Harry
Warner/Viva, 1970s/1983. Very Good+
Nice one! Clint Eastwood will forever be remembered for his groundbreaking tough guy work in the Dirty Harry films – but equally famous are Lalo Schifrin's funky soundtracks for the movies! The work is some of Schifrin's best – a mix of the jazzy style he created in the late 60s, and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jack Nitzsche/Mick Jagger/Randy Newman

Performance – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Warner, 1970. Sealed
The jury is sometimes out on the Mick Jagger on-screen performance in the Nicolas Roeg film Performance – but the soundtrack is something pretty separate entirely, and really says a lot more about the spirit of late 60s Warner Brothers Records in LA than it does the arthouse cinema scene in ... Armando Trovajoli

Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow
Warner, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
LP...$9.99 14.99
A nice little soundtrack by the great Trovajoli – scored for an Italian sex comedy starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni! The film's divided up into three segments with three different themes – the first of which is historical, the other two of which are great and groovy! The ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA (Italy), Late 60s. Very Good+
A cool Italian album – featuring one side of the soundtrack of Per Qualche Dollaro In Piu (aka For A Few Dollars More), and the score to Per Un Pugno Di Dollari (aka Fistful Of Dollars)! The songs are short, but tense – and mix plodding solo instrumentation with some sparer dramatic ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenyon Hopkins

Yellow Canary
Verve, Mid 60s. Very Good+
A lost jazzy score by Kenyon Hopkins – similar to his more famous work from the time, and featuring a great small group of players that includes Lalo Schifrin on piano, Zoot Sims on tenor, Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Clark Terry on trumpet. Tracks alternate between some really swinging ... LP, Vinyl record album
