Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Michael Henderson

Slingshot
Buddah/FTG, 1981. Used
Much as we like Michael Henderson, we almost want to hate him for the cover of this one – which features him in a skin-tight Speedo – but the record is just too damn good! The music is fantastic – and is sort of an update of the earlier east coast smooth soul sound, with lots of ... CD
Columbia, Mid 70s/1981. Used
Bill Withers' second "best of" collection for Columbia – and like the other one, this set features tracks from his earlier years at Sussex, plus some numbers cut for Columbia. Great stuff throughout – from the more recent smooth mellow soul of "Just The Two Of Us" ... CD
Paisley Park, 1986. Used
Prince in a grand groove – really hitting a new level of funk with a razor-sharp edge – and even blowing away some of his work on previous records! The record's a soundtrack for a film – Under The Cherry Moon – and although that movie never had the success of Purple Rain, ... CD

Frankie Knuckles

New Reality
Definity, 2004. Used
A nice batch of housey grooves, and heavily soulful club beats from the masterful Frankie Knuckles! As propulsive as the club elements get, there is always firm rooting in deep, emotive soul in the tracks – helping these original numbers take a huge step ahead of most collections of ... CD
Warner, 1996. Used
... CD
Warner, 1989. Used
Titles include "The Future", "Electric Chair", "Vicki Waiting", "Partyman", "Scandalous", and "Batdance". CD
Arista, Late 70s/Early 80s. Used
Tracks from Phyllis' years at Buddah and Arista – some of her finest work, and most of it an extremely unique blend of smooth jazz and modern R&B, done in a style that many tried to copy over the years. The tracks are produced by the likes of Skip Drinkwater, Mtume, and Chuck Jackson ... CD

Michael Jackson

Number Ones
Epic, Late 70s/1980s/1990s/Early 2000s. Used
Chart topping R&B from Michael, including "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough", "Rock With You", "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Thriller", "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "Smooth Criminal", "The Way You Make Me ... CD

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles

Hi, We're The Miracles
Motown, 1960. Used
Incredible work from Smokey Robinson & The Miracles – a set that's not only one of the first great records on Motown, but a set that also really links the label to the vocal scene in the rest of the country too! Although the record features a few hits, the overall presentation is nicely ... CD

Fugees

Score
Columbia, 1996. Used
16 tracks in all, including "How Many MC's", "Ready Or Not", "Killing Me Softly" (Lauryn Hill's amazing version of the Roberta Flack classic), "Fu-Gee-La", and "No Woman, No Cry". CD

Miles Davis

Milestones
Sony, 1958. Used
One of our 50s favorites by Miles Davis – and a record that offers the same twin-sax sound as his classic Kind Of Blue – with both John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley working alongside Miles in the group! Rhythm here is by the Prestige-era trio of Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers ... CD
