From The Heart

LP (Item 65366) Chiaroscuro, 1971 — Condition: Sealed

Solo piano work by Mary Lou – not as funky as some of her other sides from the time, but with a nice degree of soulful exploration that makes the work resonate a bit more strongly than some of her other solo recordings. Titles include "For The Figs", "Gemma", "Marnier Mood", "Blues For John", "Night Life", and "Cloudy".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hope From Rikers Island
Chiaroscuro, 1963/1978. Very Good+
An amazing album – and a really unique slice of the underground of jazz in the 60s! At Work In Europe
Prestige, 1969. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
Great US issue of 2 different albums that Webster recorded in Europe near the end of his life – Blow Ben Blow and For The Guv'nor. The albums were both recorded in 1969, and both with that kind of open-ended European "focus on the master soloist" approach that was gaining favor at ... LP, Vinyl record album

Somethin' Special
Pacific Jazz, 1962. Very Good
Two of LA's leading soul jazz luminaries – playing head to head in an interesting session that mixes lines on piano and organ!
