Gospel Road

LP (Item 649733) Columbia, 1973 — Condition: Near Mint-
2LP Gatefold

A double-length set in which Johnny Cash digs deep into his gospel roots – put together as the soundtrack for a film of the same name! Also features work from Kris Kristofferson, The Carter Family, June Carter Cash, and The Statler Brothers.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jack Ackerman/Teo Macero

Faces
Columbia, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Like the music in most of John Cassavetes films, this LP's a weird mish mash of styles, sounds, and snippets – but it's also got a very emotional edge to it, like all of Cassavetes' films. Jack Ackerman did most of the music, and Teo Macero arranged and conducted all of it. Weird stuff, but ... LP, Vinyl record album

George Duning

Houseboat
Columbia, Early 60s. Very Good
A light and sweet little score by George Duning – penned for this early 60s comedy that starred Sophia Loren and Cary Grant! The album's got a great vocal number – "Bing Bang Bong" – sung by Loren with DeVol orchestrations – and just the right sort of catchy 60s ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenyon Hopkins

Baby Doll
Columbia, Late 50s. Near Mint-
Kenyon Hopkins at his finest – informed by jazz, but scored with a bit more seriousness overall – in that late 50s style that oozes social consciousness from the very first note! The score's a lot more put together, and somewhat more restrained than the film – almost a jazz score ... LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
A wonderful and oft-overlooked soundtrack from the mid 60's, featuring some of Mikis Theodorakis' best work, written at the point when he was one of the greatest composers in Europe, moving way past the cliches that folks had come to expect from the Greek music of soundtracks like Never On A Sunday. ...
