13 Steps On Glass

CD (Item 648032) Enja (Germany), 1994 — Condition: Used
$9.99 ...

CD

Relatively straight work from Sunny Murray – a series of trio tracks recorded with Odeon Pope on tenor, and the great (and underrated!) Wayne Dockery on bass. The tracks are a mix of jazz standards and original tunes – played with the rough edge of trio tracks from the ESP era, but without as much freedom and hard blowing as you might have heard on a Murray album in the 60s. Titles include "Out For A Walk", "Lover", "Emoi", "Blues For PC", "Constant Blue", and "Well You Needn't".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print.)

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Archie Shepp & Richard Davis

Body & Soul
Enja (Germany), 1989. Used
Shepp on tenor and Davis on bass – dueting on 4 long readings of jazz standards, handled with that open soulful approach that Shepp often brought to his work in the years after the mid 70s. Davis' bass work is always appreciated in a setting like this – and although the players have ... CD

John Scofield

Out Like A Light
Enja (Germany), 1981. Used
Wonderful guitar work from John Scofield – awash in those warm chromatic tones that make his work from this period so great – set up in a sweet trio with Steve Swallow on electric bass and Adam Nussbaum on drums! The sound has a nice sort of focus – still some of the ethereal ... CD

Yusef Lateef

Other Sounds
New Jazz/OJC, 1957. Used
A wonderful album that's as swinging as it is exotic! The record really picks up the groove from Lateef's earlier sides for Savoy – and features a mixture of hardbop and more "Eastern" themed musical images, all extremely compelling, and a wonderful look at a jazz underground that ... CD
