Infinity In Sound

LP (Item 6458) RCA, 1960 — Condition: Very Good
One of the maestro's greatest! From the instruments spiraling off to infinity on the cover, to the tracks played in the unique crazy Esquivel "wah wah" style, the album stands as one of the finest examples of (and obstacle courses for) modern high fidelity – a really dynamic set of instrumental tunes that perfectly display the powers of the legendary Juan Garcia Esquivel! Instrumentation is quite full – lots of horns that blast one minute, disappear the next – with lots of odd guitar bits, percussive elements, and other cool twists and turns to keep things plenty darn interesting – even when the tunes themselves are familiar ones. Tracks include "Softly As In A Morning Sunrise", "Music Makers", "Frenesi", "So Rare", "Take The A Train", "Harlem Nocturne", "Autumn Leaves", and "Macarena". As the cover warns, this one is for "Hi-Fanatics"!  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of the most memorable Esquivel albums, and perhaps the first record that really let him hit his fantastic mix of off-beat orchestrations and spacey electronicized production! Quite possibly our favorite Esquivel album ever – a tremendous little session that was recorded for RCA's Stereo Action series – with incredible sound that leaps back and forth between each speaker! The notes describe the record as having a "block long sound" – given ... LP, Vinyl record album

One of their best 70s LPs – with a great spacey sound, and arrangements that are a lot more complicated than their earlier albums. Very cool work from Creed Taylor – material cut when he was still a bandleader, and hadn't yet evolved into the role of super-producer! JBL, 1973. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold
70s geekazoid hi-fi culture at it's finest! The folks at JBL put together this 2LP set as sort of a "bible" of a 70's understanding of hi-fi – and it's a weird mix of documentary discussion, speaker demonstration, and rock tracks by the likes of Alex Harvey and Hoyt Axton.
