Kinks Greatest Hits (Marble Arch)

LP (Item 638940) Marble Arch (Canada), Late 60s — Condition: Near Mint-

Includes "Lola", "Well Respected Man", "You Really Got Me", "All Day & All Of The Night", "Set Me Free", and "Tired Of Waiting".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Reprise, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold
Pre-Muswell Hillbillies, but taking a turn towards the folksier and rootsier sound that they used in their first few albums of the 70s. The strength here is that the band is still working off the lean style forged on Village Green Preservation Society – and most of the cuts have a great ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kinks

Sleepwalker
Arista, 1977. Very Good
A nice transition from the overwrought concept albums of mid 70s Kinks – and a shift into tighter, shorter, more condensed tunes that got the group firmly back on track! The concepts here are each confined to the space of a single tune – taking Ray and the group back to the best ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kinks

Low Budget
Arista, 1979. Very Good+
A real standout in the later catalog of the Kinks – a record that gave the group a number of minor hits, and which let them rock out a bit more than usual – in a style that was clearly influenced by the punk of the period, but which also had sort of a Pete Townsend-esque quality to it. ... Kinks

Soap Opera
RCA, 1975. Very Good
One of the highest-concept of all 70s Kinks album – a dark exploration of fame and the price of success, done as a mini-rock opera starring Norman & The Starmaker! As with some of these sets, the best tunes here are those that are the most subtle and less dramatic – and which ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hondells

Go Little Honda!
Mercury, Mid 60s. Very Good
Hard to believe there was a day when the word "Honda" referred exclusively to a motor bike – but that was the case, at the time the Hondells hit big with their groovy little title hit on this LP! As the album's cover attests, the group are all over the (then) popular bike – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kraftwerk

Computer World
Warner, 1981. Very Good+
A classic bit of spare electronics from the Kraftwerk man machine! The album's perhaps a bit tighter than some of their earlier albums, but it's also got that spare tinny sound that influenced a generation of hip hoppers, electro heads, and Miami bass stars.
