LP (Item 63893) Harvest, 1969 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold

A really nice album of trippy rock tracks with lots of nice folksy touches! The group's a trio, all of whom sing lead vocals from time to time – and instrumentation includes organ, harmonium, piano, percussion, guitars, electric harpsichord, mandolin, and cello – all swirling around in a style that's got traces of late work by Tim Hardin, Love, Nico, and early Roy Wood – produced with the nicely understated feel of the late 60s Harvest Records scene. Tunes are nicely simple without sounding cloying – and titles include "Bad Penny", "Fading Light", "A Fantasy You", "While You're Gone", "Do You Want Some Smoke", and "Rain Is On My Balcony".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(US pressing. Cover has light wear and a cutout hole.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A great idea for a compilation – a selection of progressive rock tracks from the early 70s! The bulk of the material is pulled off the old Harvest Records catalog – home to Pink Floyd and a host of other British groups of the time – and the album's got a spirit that's as free as ... One of the best jazz rock combos to grace the Harvest label in the early 70s – a German trio who've got plenty of proggish inflections, and who really serve up some great keyboards and guitar over heavy drums! Sweet late 70s work from Can – working here at a level that's a cool compression of the group's earlier ideals, but with a style that's very true to their roots! A bit of jazzy magic from Fagen – stepping out from the cover of Steely Dan after the Gaucho album, and sounding pretty darn great on his own! Archetypal heavy rock from Blue Cheer – one of THE underground classics of the late 60s! Guitars are firmly, very jammingly in force – and the set's produced to perfection by the legendary Abe "Voco" Kesh. Powerful, fuzzed out, blues based fire at it's most forceful and ... LP, Vinyl record album

A smoking live set from the Butterfield Blues Band – and like all the group's work, as much of a jazz and soul album as a blues one!
