Bobby & I

A pretty strange and groovy vocal duet – the team of Bobby and Ken Fishler – a pair who sing together in a style that's somewhere between late 60s work by Jackie & Roy, or Vicki Hamilton & Dave MacKay. The difference here is that Bobby and Ken aren't afraid to head for some more freewheeling and slightly goofy material – straying from the straight jazz mode that other groups like this might use, and going into poppish territory that's got plenty of nice touches. Arrangements are by Ken, with backings by Tommy Oliver – and the overall style is somewhere in the vein of A&M pop mixed with San Francisco vocals – a bit dreamy, a bit groovy, not afraid to take chances with unusual material. Ken wrote a good deal of the songs on the album, making it a fresh departure from the usual vocal bag – and the album includes plenty of numbers that fall in the Cafe Apres Midi mode. Titles include "Ben Lomand Lament", "5:09", "Best Of Both Worlds", "Sweet Talkin Guy", "The Traffic Song", "Afternoon Sky", "Michael From Mountains", "Everyone's Gone To The Moon", and "Love Is For The Sharing". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
