Temporarily Out Of Stock

An early date as a leader for guitarist Nels Cline – done with lots of rich tones and hues, of the sort that his generation really helped bring to jazz guitar! There's some echoes here of the previous ECM range of players, but Cline's also got a sharper focus at points too – still working with modes that have more decay on the sound than attack, but shaping it in darker tones that really shape the quality of the atmospherics. Trio members include Mark London Sims on bass and Michael Preussner on drums – and titles include "Las Vegas Tango", "Mags", "Rampling By The Sea", "Sacred Love", "Lucile's Trip", and "Broasted". (Out of print. Barcode has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

An unusual early set as a leader from Bobby Watson – recorded during his initial batch of work with Curtis Lundy, but in a much freer style! The session's a live one – and has Bobby as the main soloist in a quartet that includes Jim McNeeley on piano, Todd Coolman on bass, and Adam ... CD

Quite a crazy little record from Charles Mingus! Mingus plays piano and sings (yes, you read that right!) in a tight sextet with Booker Ervin and Roland Kirk on reeds, and Jimmy Knepper on trombone. Mingus is trying out a kind of messed-up, blues-inspired sound here – but for some reason ... CD
