Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play,
but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic,
with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a
cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner
and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay,
though probably with surface noise.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Great late work from Furry Lewis – recorded in the Ardent Studios in Memphis by Mike Vernon – and very faithfully done! Tracks include "Grand Central Station", "Let's Shake Hand In Hand", "Waiting For A Train", "Big Chief Blues", "See That ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sweet electric blues from Albert King – recorded with some great full production, in a burning Memphis style that's got plenty of soul in the mix as well! The set's got a quality level that takes it past some of the cliche-ridden blues of the time – really soulful overall, with a sound ... LP, Vinyl record album
A pretty nice little 2LP set – put together in the early 70s, and featuring material that Walter recorded for Chess during the 60s. As the title would imply, there's a lot of harmonica on the album – but Walter's vocals should also be given their due, as they're a bit more in the soul ... LP, Vinyl record album
The funk-tinged, pyschedelic soul album from Muddy Waters – one that irritated many a blues purist in its day – but it's finally reaching its earned status as a leftfield gem! You know, in the immediate years after this one (and similar funky blues albums on Chess/Cadet) was released, ... LP, Vinyl record album
BB King not just live, but well-recorded in the studio too – in this classic ABC set that showcases both sides of his talents! Side one is the live set – and it's arguably better than any of the previous other concert recordings he did for the label – with a tighter, moodier feel ... LP, Vinyl record album
Crown Prince Waterford, T Bone Walker, Walter Brow
A very cool collection from Capitol Records, done only for the Japanese market! Side one features all tracks by Crown Prince Waterford, working in a small group with Pete Johnson on piano. Side two features work by Tiny Brown, David Wheaton, T-Bone Walker, Walter Brown, and, oddly, Cootie ... LP, Vinyl record album
Albert King hardly has to make the statement in the title – as the record's plenty funky throughout, and has that great mix of blues with hipper 70s styles that you'd find in his best material for Stax Records! King's at the core, both on vocals and guitar – but the set also features ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of Bobby's greatest albums – a mix of electric blues and southern soul, forged in the heat of the Malaco studios in Jackson! The album's titled after Rush's incredible 8 minute track "Sue" – a tale of young love that has a hilarious monologue in the middle about this ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the great documents Alan Lomax put together for Atlantic records in the 60s in his Southern Folk Heritage series, featuring ethnographic recordings of rural black music. While the title of this album says it's the "roots" of the blues, there's no shortage of straight up country ... LP, Vinyl record album
