Limbo Party

LP (Item 631287) Audio Fidelity, 1962 — Condition: Very Good+

(Mono pressing. Vinyl has a faint edge warp, but plays great. Cover has a split top seam, old tape residue, aging, spot of crayon.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Burt Bacharach

Reach Out
A&M, 1967. Near Mint-
Fantastic! We love Burt Bacharach in so many ways that it's easy to forget the genius of these early A&M sides – but going back to them is always a treat, and it's wonderful to hear the way that Burt lays down his own work when given the chance! You know the tracks – "House ... LP, Vinyl record album

Henry Mancini

Cop Show Themes
RCA, 1976. Very Good
One of the funkiest albums ever from Henry Mancini – a brilliant reworking of hit 70s cop show themes, put together with a really jazzy groove! Burt Bacharach

Saturday Sunshine
Kapp, 1973. Near Mint-
Cool repackaging of some of Burt's great work for Kapp from the 60's. The album, which has a cover that makes him look like a statue at a piano in a forest, was put together for the Abbott pharmaceutical company as a promotion for their drug Placidyl! A wild package, and a great batch of cuts ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wild Tchoupitoulas

Wild Tchoupitoulas
Island, 1976. Near Mint-
A great slice of New Orleans soul from the 70s – a record that replicates the "Indian" culture in the Mardi Gras scene – and which is most notable for featuring work by The Meters as well! The groove here is kind of Meters-styled funk, mixed with some fuller New Orleans mode ... LP, Vinyl record album
Carlton, Late 50s. Near Mint-
We're not sure if Lloyd's actually the fastest guitar in the world – but this is a pretty darn groovy album, no matter what the speed! Shirley Scott

Mystical Lady
Cadet, Late 60s. Very Good
One of Shirley Scott's trippy albums for Cadet, when she was being recorded with groups that were larger than usual – which was, in our opinion, a good thing, since her organ solos were backed up by more than the usual bass and drums, and she was given a more creative setting to open up in. ... Pleasant Afternoon
Muse, 1981. Near Mint-
A fantastic album by Charles Earland – and one which, like many of his Muse albums, has a groove that he hardly ever managed to put on wax with other labels at the time!
