Roberta Flack Featuring Donny Hathaway

LP (Item 62968) Atlantic, 1979 — Condition: Very Good+

Beautiful duo soul from the all-time great Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway – released right around the time of Donny's tragic passing! The set was co-produced by Eric Mercury and Flack – and it has a lot of great vocals from Roberta, with as masterfully paired with Donny as always – plus guest vocal appearances by Luther Vandross, Gwen Guthrie, and Eleanore Mills, and even Mercury, who sings a bit on one track! Titles include couple of nice Stevie Wonder tunes – "You Are My Heaven" and "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" – plus "Stay With Me", "God Don't Like Ugly", "Only Heaven Can Wait", and "Disguises".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light staining on the top right corner.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Mandala

Soul Crusade
Atlantic, 1968. Very Good Gatefold
Wild eyed organ soul from Mandala – a mix of raw and heavy R&B and fuzzed out garagey sounds from the Toronto combo – bringing their legendary approach to fiery performance to this lone rare studio set pretty well! It's not a soul set by a purist's definition, with raw funk, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Dancin' & Lovin'
Atlantic, 1980. Very Good+
There's plenty of lovin here, but even more dancin too – thanks to production and arrangements from disco maestro Michael Zager! Wilson Pickett

Midnight Mover
Atlantic, 1966. Very Good
Stone soul from Wilson Pickett – the kind of all-great Atlantic album that had Wilson standing above most of the filler-heavy soul acts of the time! I Shall Be Released
Probe, Late 60s. Very Good+
Deep bluesy soul by the artist who scored big earlier in the 60's with "Hey Girl". Freddie produced this album, and wrote a number of the tracks, including "Out of My Mind", "I'll Be Leaving Her Tomorrow", and "Girl, I Love You". Much more righteous than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Tasty Jam

A definite Tasty Jam from Fatback – a set that bumps along wonderfully with lots of the bassy bottom grooves that made the combo so great!
