Unknown Kurt Weill

LP (Item 629621) Nonesuch, 1981 — Condition: Near Mint-
Gatefold

...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Ella Fitzgerald

Ella In Hollywood
Verve, 1961. Very Good
A nice little Verve session that breaks from the usual format – especially the "Songbooks" one – and features Ella in LA with small group backing by Jim Hall, Lou Levy, Wilfred Middlebrooks, and Gus Johnson. The set was recorded live at the Crescendo – in a jazzily ... LP, Vinyl record album

Come Fly With Me
Capitol, Late 50s. Very Good
A gem of a 50s album from Frank – well-themed and swinging, with a batch of travel-related tunes that really groove nicely! Peggy Lee

Sugar 'N' Spice
Capitol, 1962. Very Good
Peggy's sweet as sugar, but working here with a heck of a lot of spice – thanks to arranger Benny Carter, who brings in a wonderfully jazzy feel to the set! The album's one of Peggy's best from her comeback years at Capitol – and a prime example of the syncopated, slinking mode of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Frank Sinatra

Concert Sinatra
Reprise, 1963. Very Good
A real standout from Frank Sinatra's years at Reprise – an album that shows the singer working at the full height of all his vocal and emotional powers! The set's not the live album you might guess from the title – and instead, the "concert" setting means that Nelson Riddle ... LP, Vinyl record album

Nonesuch, 1965. Near Mint-
One of Stockhausen's more extended compositions, and a haunting piece composed for soprano, choir groups, and a very strange mix of instruments – including lots of weird percussion, and some very spooky electric organ. Make It Easy On Yourself
A&M, 1969. Very Good
Fantastic work by maestro Burt Bacharach – subtle genius, and an album that offers more to us every time we listen to it!
