Continuity Of Spirit

LP (Item 625550) Silveto, 1984 — Condition: Near Mint-
A great later project from Horace Silver – as hip as any of his late 70s work, and with vocals by both Andy Bey and The Waters!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

WHP (Italy), 1968. Sealed
Brilliant live work from Blue Note legend Horace Silver – extended live tracks that are even hipper than some of his studio work of the period, and recorded with a very cool combo as well! LP...$6.99 11.99
Excellent 70's issue of a number of tracks recorded by Horace Silver in the late 50's – including some (then) unissued material, and alternate versions of popular tracks, recorded with different bands than on the hit. Highlights include a vocal version of "Senor Blues" (with Bill ... LP, Vinyl record album

An incredible record – the kind of album that only Blue Note could put out, and an instant classic that will sound wonderful forever! Blue Note, 1959. Very Good-
Classic Blue Note work by Horace Silver – the stuff that soul jazz legends are made of, and an album that showed he was destined to be a huge force away from the Jazz Messengers! 6 Pieces Of Silver
Blue Note, 1956. Good
The lyrical genius at his best – an early record from pianist Horace Silver, but one that already has him really defining that special sort of sound that made him really stand out from his contemporaries! Blowin' The Blues Away
Blue Note, 1959. Near Mint-
A killer session from Horace Silver – a record that has the legendary Blue Note pianist working with his famous quintet that includes Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Junior Cook on tenor, Gene Taylor on bass, and Louis Hayes on drums! Bill Coleman & Guy Lafitte

Mainstream At Montreux
Black Lion, 1973. Near Mint-
A rich testament to the strength of the Parisian traditional jazz scene in the early 70s – as key players Coleman and Lafitte work here with a quintet live at the Montreux jazz fest in 1973. Lafitte's tenor is always a treasure, warm and rich, but moody and edgey at the same time – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Erroll Garner

Contrasts
EmArcy, 1954. Near Mint-
A well-titled record, given that the set features a mixture of grooving numbers with a trio, and some of the spare, open tracks that would really make Erroll Garner's fame – including an early version of "Misty"! LP, Vinyl record album

Howard Roberts

Sounds
Capitol, 1974. Near Mint-
Ahhhhh . . . The sublime tone of Howard Roberts! The record's not as funky as his mid 60s gems, or as experimental as his trippy sides for Impulse, but there's still some wonderful little moments – with Howard riffing away in broad chromatic washes, and a small combo grooving underneath with ... John Coltrane

Kulu Se Mama
Impulse, 1966. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of our favorite albums ever from John Coltrane – but a record that's sometimes eclipsed by the genius of A Love Supreme! The feel here is very similar to that one – long tracks that introduce a new mode of searching, spiritual jazz for the 60s – one that's performed by a core ... LP, Vinyl record album
