Rising For The Moon

LP (Item 625148) Island, 1975 — Condition: Very Good+

A tight little set from Fairport Convention – produced by Glyn Johns, and handled with a sweet crossover sound that's very nice! Sandy Denny's vocals make some of the the tracks glow nicely, and the overall instrumentation has more conventional rock touches at many points – shaking off the group's more acoustic touches for compressed mid 70s sounds that help emphasize the hooks of the catchier tunes. This change is a good thing – and all the best folksy elements of the group's sound are still intact, just given this slight update that never goes off track at all, and certainly never veers into commercial territory – that special quality that has kept Fairport Convention going strong for so long, even through so many changes. Titles include "Restless", "What Is True", "After Halloween", "Night Time Girl", "One More Chance", and "Stranger To Himself".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
