Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Bobby Valentin

Young Man With A Horn
Fania, Late 60s. Used
Massive work from the great Bobby Valentin – his first-ever album, issued back when he was a jazzy trumpeter! The record offers the "best in boogaloo" – as the cover states – and features a very mod mix of tunes that really gets at the mish-mash crossover energy of the ... CD
International/Fania/Codigo, 1973. Used
The mighty Apollo Sound combo at the height of their powers – hard-hitting on percussion, but also sparkling with some jazzier touches on tenor sax, flute, and trombone! Roberto Roena had a slightly looser groove than some of his contemporaries, and as you'll hear on this set, there's space ... CD

Willie Colon

Fantasmas
Fania, 1981. Used
A brilliant new move for Willie Colon – a set that goes even further than his mid 70s classics with Ruben Blades, and pushes Willie into a Pan-American consciousness carried off with ambitious musical vision! The sound is still salsa at the core, but Willie's also brought in bits of other ... CD
Fania/Universal, 1970s/1980s. Used
Featuring 16 tracks including "Guarare", "Acere Trumboro", "Jibaro", and "El Hablador". CD

Ruben Blades

Maestra Vida Vol 2
Fania, 1979. Used
An amazing achievement for Ruben Blades – a full suite of tracks conceived and composed by Ruben as a "disco drama" on wax! The work isn't the disco-styled album you might think from this description – and is more of a mini-opera or concept album by Blades, one that features ... CD
Fania, 1975. Used
A roots-oriented 70s classic from Willie Colon – one of his standout albums of the decade! Willie continues his "life of crime" approach for the early 70s – moving into an old west look on the cover, and matching that with a slightly rootsier sound on the album! The real ... CD

Ruben Blades

Metiendo Mano
Fania, 1977. Used
Willie Colon declares Ruben Blades as the champ on the cover of this early solo set – and for good reason too, as the album's one of Blades' best! There's a clear, clean simplicity to the record that's totally wonderful – a purity of vision before some of Ruben's later crossover ... CD

Hector Lavoe

De Ti Depende
Fania, 1976. Used
A killer of a mid 70s album from Hector Lavoe – recording here as a solo act after his split from the Willie Colon group, but still with strong backings and musical supervision from Willie himself! The style here is very similar to the last few albums Lavoe recorded with Colon – a ... CD

Willie Colon

Salsa's Bad Boy
Fania/Charly (UK), Late 60s/1970s. Used
A killer collection of work from Willie Colon – 16 tracks from his key years at Fania Records! CD

... CD
Mar Vel/Disco Hit, Late 50s. Used
Beautiful spare sounds from Noro Morales – and an album that really lets you hear his amazing work on the piano! Most of the album simply features Noro's playing, backed by bass and percussion, and no other orchestration – a really stripped-down setting that's even more spare than the ... CD
