Another World

LP (Item 622388) Steeplechase (Denmark), 1978 — Condition: Near Mint-

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Steeplechase (Denmark), 1975. Near Mint-
Excellent work from Clifford Jordan – far better than the usual Steeplechase session of the time! The vibe here is similar to Jordan's work at the time on the Strata East label – played in a very similar group, with Cedar Walton on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums ... Kenny Drew

Dark Beauty
Steeplechase (Denmark), 1974. Very Good
A great title for this one – as the album's got a dark edge that's quite different than some of Kenny Drew's earlier work – the start of a great run of recordings for Steeplechase Records on the European scene of the 70s – and a demonstration of Drew's real powers when he can ... Jackie McLean & Dexter Gordon

Meeting Vol 1
Steeplechase (Denmark), 1976. Near Mint-
A great meeting of two generations of jazz – and one that really blows the top off some of Dexter Gordon's other European sessions of the time! The setting here is definitely one that's more a Gordon-based date – long tracks with rhythm backing from a trio with Kenny Drew on piano, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Steeplechase (Denmark), 1973. Near Mint-
One of Johnny Griffin's best European recordings of the 70s! Stan Getz

Live At Montmartre
Steeplechase (Denmark), 1977. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A double slice of Stan Getz! The work here is wonderful – moody late 70s Getz, with some especially soulful moments on the mellow tracks too – that kind of spun-out blowing that we first started finding in Stan's career right around the Sweet Rain album, and which continued to show up ... Donald Byrd

Blue Note, 1967. Sealed
An incredible album from Donald Byrd – hard, funky, and with more of an edge than most of his other Blue Note work! The sound on the album's incredibly sinister – really concerned with downward chord turns in moody rhythms – played with a real sense of soul by a frontline that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Freddie Hubbard

Goin' Up
Blue Note, 1961. Near Mint-
A real burner from Freddie Hubbard's early years at Blue Note – filled with rich hues, colors, and tones!
