CD

While some of us love to spend hours diggin' for dusties, this compilation does all the hard work for you! Third in a series that brings together soul, jazz and funk numbers, all of which have gone on to live a second – and in some cases third, fourth or fifth – life after being lifted and looped by hip hop, dance and new groove artists. Plus as a bonus, with each track, it lists the popular number that sampled it. 40 cuts in all, spread out over 2 discs, including: "California Soul" Marlena Shaw, "Heartbeat" Taana Gardner, "Summer In The City" Quincy Jones, "Baby Let Me Take You" Detroit Emeralds, "Evil Vibrations" Mighty Ryders, "Danube Incident" Lalo Schifrin, "Unhooked Generation" Freda Payne", "Apache" Incredible Bongo Band, "Inside Out" by American Gypsy and "Inside My Love" Minnie Riperton. (Out of print.)  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Volume one of the legendary compilation of James Brown produced stuff that taught us to love his other work back in the 80's when it was released. We're not going to pretend that we had all the original stuff when we were kids, but we did have this great comp – which includes monster stuff ... CD

The second volume in this groovy series of soundtrack tunes! This set is way stranger than the usual soundtrack compilation – in that it includes the usual funky and "mod" bits, but it also has some odder numbers from sources that push past the ordinary, including a number of rare ... CD

A great little collection that definitely lives up to the promise of "dirty grooves" in the title – as many of these numbers have a sharp edge and gritty side to their instrumentation – which means that even the familiar artists sound nice and heavy in this setting – ... CD

Curtis Mayfield's early 80s albums for the Boardwalk label – back to back on one CD! Love Is The Place is great post-Curtom work from Curtis – a set recorded in LA, not Chicago – with the mighty Gene Page at the helm! The style here isn't that different from the later Curtom ... CD

Mary J's second LP, and every bit as fine as the first.
