Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Orgone

Reasons
Killion Sound, 2019. Used
Orgone just seem to get better and better as the years go on – from a more standard funk combo to one who've really found their own groove – which they seem to push even further here with the addition of singer Adryon De Leon – a vocalist who really helps bring some focus to their ... CD

Tuxedo (Mayer Hawthorne & Jake One)

Tuxedo III
Funk On Sight, 2019. Used
There's a sticker on the cover that proclaims "third time's the charm" – and while that might be the case, we've also got to admit that we've always been pretty well charmed by Tuxedo – a great outlet for the soulful talents of Mayer Hawthorne, as he teams up with Jake One! ... CD

Burnt Sugar Arkestra

Angels Over Oakanda
Avantgroidd, 2021. Used
Wonderfully righteous work from Burnt Sugar Arkestra – a group who've been giving us great records for years, but who are maybe even more important to the scene than ever before! The core of the record is the long title track – a very jazzy tune that builds up over loops set down by ... CD
Ubiquity, 2001. Used
Excellent work from Greyboy – his first album in years, and well worth the wait! The set shows considerable growth in his style – yet should still also be extremely pleasing to fans of his older work, as he's kept the commitment to mixing heavy hip hop beats with tight funky jazz, and ... CD

Various

Raw Funk
Hotpie & Candy/Instinct, Early 90s. Used
Sounds like rare funk material from the 60s – and the notes make you think the same thing – but the grooves were cut during the last 10 years, by the European funk combos that made up the now-defunkt Soulciety label! The imprint was one of the best acid jazz labels in the early 90s ... CD

Erik Truffaz

Revisite
Blue Note, 2001. Used
The spacey work of Swiss trumpeter Erik Truffaz gets the remix treatment, in a great set of chillout grooves! Truffaz has a great sound – kind of a blend of late 60s Miles Davis, and mid 70s Eddie Henderson – and his first few albums for Blue Note France have been some of our favorite ... CD

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings

I Learned The Hard Way
Daptone, 2010. Used
The fourth album from Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – solidifying what we learned pretty early on from the indomitable soul spirit that is Sharon and her impeccable combo the Dap-Kings – it's that this is not some retro soul revival novelty act, what they are is the greatest active ... CD
Record Kicks (Italy), 2005. Used
Heavy funk and mod grooves – the fab second installment in the Soul Shaker series, and even better than the first! Nick the Record has really sharpened his ear for a tune with this one – and has picked out some of the best bits from recent years of the funk and mod instrumental revival ... CD

Suffers

Suffers
Rhyme & Reason, 2016. Used
No suffering here – as these guys have an upbeat, joyous sound that really grabs us right away – a warm vibe that's very much their own, and which is a nice change from some of the more posturing retro soul on the market! In fact, although these guys work in an old school mode of live ... CD

Eric B & Rakim

Follow The Leader
Uni/MCA, 1988. Used
No sophomore slump for the second Eric B & Rakim album – benchmark hip hop of the first order and up there with the best of all time!
