Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

From its booze-soaked title cut, to its haunting selection of lonely ballads like "Midnight Sun" and "Stranger Called The Blues", this is one of the most fantastic vocal jazz albums of all time – and a record that we'd recommend instantly to anyone! June Christy has an ... CD

Monica Zetterlund

Ohh! Monica
Universal (Japan), 1965. Used
Really wonderful work from vocalist Monica Zetterlund – recorded at a time when she was really coming into her own! The album really has Monica stepping past her initial influences from American jazz – working in an idiom that's equally well suited to expression in her native Swedish, ... CD
Debut/OJC, 1954. Used
A beautiful early session on Charles Mingus' Debut Records label – one that features singer Ada Moore – a thin-voiced, yet soulful songstress with an edgey sort of tone! The album's got lots of nice rough edges that take it away from the cliched vocal album of the time – ... CD
Verve/Jazz Heritage, 1957. Used
Anita sings it swinging and simple – working with a smallish combo to back her up, and vocalizing in a relatively uncluttered style that's in keeping with her best mode at Verve! The tunes are mostly standards, sung in a way that bridges swing and later styles of jazz vocalization – no ... CD

Carola & Heikki Sarmanto Trio
Sahko (Finland), 1966. Used
A fantastic bit of lost vocal jazz from the 60s – sung by Finnish vocalist Carola, an artist we'd rank right up there with Monica Zetterlund, Karin Krog, and some of our favorite European singers from the time! Like Monica and Karin, Carola sings mostly in English and has a very groovy ... CD

FM/Roulette, 1963. Used
One of Chris Connor's most obscure albums from the 60s – and one of her nicest too! The record's got a less polished feel than some of Connor's work for Atlantic or ABC – recorded live at the Village Gate, and divided up into "late" and "early" shows that both have ... CD
Verve, 1964. Used 2 CDs
A hugely expanded version of the classic double live album by Ella Fitzgerald – featuring a total of 48 tracks in all, recorded over 2 nights at a French jazz festival in 1964, with backing by a group that includes Roy Eldridge and Tommy Flanagan. More than half of the set appears to be ... CD

Richie Kamuca

West Coast Jazz In Hi Fi
Hi Fi/OJC, 1959. Used
A hard-swinging session that's much hipper than you might guess from the "hi fi" or "west coast" in the title – recorded with none of the cliches that both tags might make you think – and instead a well-crafted set of solos from the mighty Richie Kamuca! Back in the ... CD

Johnny Lytle

Village Caller
Riverside/OJC, 1961. Used
A funky vibes classic – and a landmark set from Detroit vibist Johnny Lytle! The set's one of the purest examples of Johnny's great early groove – a tightly stepping version of soul jazz that played big in the clubs at the time, and which has forever made Lytle one of the favorites of ... CD
