Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

June Christy

Cool School/Do Re Mi
Capitol (UK), 1960/1961. Used
2 rare gems from June Christy's later years on Capitol – back to back on one CD! The Cool School is easily one of June's greatest albums – even if it is an unusual one! The format here is a far cry from the boozier modes of Christy's earlier career – as the tunes on the set are ... CD
Capitol, Mid 50s. Used
One of June's all-time classics – and perhaps her most famous album, next to the sublime Something Cool. The set, like that one, was arranged and conducted by Pete Rugolo – whose icy and modern touches are the perfect foil for June's sad and dark voice. Familiar tunes are completely ... CD
Capitol, 1953. Used

Andy Bey

Shades Of Bey
Evidence, 1998. Used
A fantastic comeback moment for the great Andy Bey – a singer who did incredible work in the 60s and 70s – then disappeared from the recording scene for awhile! The set's a compelling batch of jazz vocal tracks that show Andy reinventing himself for a whole new generation of jazz ... CD
Verve, 1963. Used
One of the best records ever from vocalist Bill Henderson – thanks to excellent small group backing from the Oscar Peterson Trio! CD features 4 previously unissued bonus tracks too. CD

Mercury/Fresh Sound (Spain), 1956. Used
A great early set from singer Ernestine Anderson – material recorded in Sweden with a sound that's even more sweetly swinging than some of her American albums of the time! The backings on most tracks are by Harry Arnold – one of the hippest Swedish leaders of the time, and an arranger ... CD

Jon Hendricks

Freddie Freeloader
Denon, 1990. Used
One of the last great records ever cut by Jon Hendricks – one of our favorite singers of all time! The album's a bit of a "tour de force" – with Hendricks singing alongside a host of famous jazz musicians and vocalists, working in an all star setting that's sometimes too good ... CD

Betty Carter

Droppin Things
Verve, 1990. Used
A record of incredible beauty – probably our favorite of all the Betty Carter comeback albums! The set starts with one of the most wonderful tunes Betty's ever written – "30 Years", a lightly grooving number told from the perspective of a woman who's losing her man after ... CD
