Christmas With The Everly Brothers & The Boys Town Choir

LP (Item 617321) Warner, 1962 — Condition: Very Good+
A really wonderful Christmas album – one that matches the heavenly vocals of The Everly Brothers with the Boys Town Choir! Phil and Don are still out in the lead on most numbers, but they also get strong support from the pillow of sound provided by the larger chorus – used here in these dreamy ways that make for a real change from the usual Everly groove, especially since there's almost no other instrumentation on the record! The lack of studio polish or rocking grooves makes for a very personal moment – almost as if you've caught the Everly Brothers celebrating the Holiday privately at midnight mass – on a host of tunes that include "Silent Night", "We Wish You A Merry Christmas", "The First Noel", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "What Child Is This", and "Adeste Fideles".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Great funky avant work from this mad German duo – sounding very much here as they do on their Mad Rockers mode!
