The title track of his follow up LP to Juicy Fruit (even though the labels say this is from the LP Prime Time – perhaps a pre-release title for the album), this track is considerably more downtempo, but has the same crisp electronic drums, and nice light synth melodies piano lines floating over the spare, snapped bass. In our minds, this was easily as strong a cut, and though it did well, it never seemed to break like "Juicy Fruit", which we still hear in "old school" mixes today. The tracks on the flip are just different mixes of the a-side.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A nice bit of 80s groove from Mtume and crew, with a slow, spare bass heavy groove not unlike "Juicy Fruit", though admittedly not as sultry. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Billie Jean (long, inst)
Epic, 1982. Good
We know, this huge hit got well overplayed in its heyday, not to mention still getting thrown into rotation a bit more than some other deserving MJ cuts, but you can't argue with the solid Quincy Jones production that gave this track its top of the charts status! 12-inch, Vinyl record

Syl's last big record – a sweet bluesy groover for the clubs, with a bit of an older feel to it. "Ms Fine Brown Frame" was written with General Crook, who also produced and arranged. Backing on all tracks is by the James Cotton group. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Boogie Wonderland (voc, inst)

"Boogie Wonderland" was EWF's biiiiiig jammer with vocals by The Emotions – a huge hit for years, both on radio and the dancefloors! Nice here in an instrumental version too! 12-inch, Vinyl record
