Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

LaVerne Butler

Love Lost & Found Again
High Note, 2012. Used
A beautiful, sweetly jazz-based set from LaVerne Butler – and we can't imagine why you'd lose the love for her voice and style, if you've ever found it in the first place – but this is a great place to find it! Bruce Barth is on piano and handles the arrangements, with the great ... CD

Dena DeRose

Ode To The Road
High Note, 2020. Used
Nice work from a hip singer, and a pretty good pianist too – an artist wise enough to choose tunes that include a few each from Mark Murphy and Bob Dorough, then match the strength of those with some original work of her own! Dena's from that old school generation when jazz singers were ... CD

Sheila Jordan

Jazz Child
High Note, 1998. Used
Features the great Sheila Jordan working with a quartet that includes Steve Kuhn on piano, Dave Finck on bass, and Billy Drummond on drums – plus guest vocals from Theo Beckmann on a few tracks too! CD

Sheila Jordan

Yesterdays
High Note, 1990. Used
An excellent live date from Sheila Jordan – and quite an unusual one, too! The set features Jordan's vocals with just the bass of Harvie S for accompaniment – a wonderfully spare setting that lets Sheila open up in all those freely inventive ways she first started showing us in the 70s ... CD
Verve, Mid 50s. Used
Something of an addition to the Verve "songbook" mode of the 50s – but it's also one that's a lot more dynamic than the others, thanks to some very jazzy arrangements from Billy May! The groove here is very upbeat and jazzy – hard-swinging in the manner that May forged with ... CD

Ella Fitzgerald & Duke Ellington

Ella & Duke At The Cote D'Azur
Verve, 1966. Used 2CD
A superstar performance from the Antibes jazz festival at Cote D'Azur – one that features Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington sharing the stage, in a concert that was also recorded for a film! Most numbers here feature the full Ellington orchestra backing Ella up – but a few other ... CD

Diana Krall

Quiet Nights
Verve, 2009. Used
... CD
EMI/Capitol, 1963/1967. Used
2 great ones from Julie London – back to back on one CD! The End Of The World follows nicely from Julie's interpretation of the big pop hit of the same name – in territory that's sad and dreamy, but in a different way than her earlier albums on Liberty. There's a nicely boozy quality ... CD

Emily, 1976. Used
John Poole on drums, Bob Maize on bass & Norman Simmons on piano. CD

Rosemary Clooney with Duke Ellington

Blue Rose (with bonus tracks)
Columbia, 1956. Used
Fantastic stuff, and proof that Rosemary Clooney was always one heck of a great singer – with strengths in jazz that you didn't always hear in her pop work! As you'd guess from the cover, Duke Ellington's leading the group on the album – and most of the tracks here are older Ellington ... CD
