Tomorrow's Rainbow

LP (Item 611814) Contemporary, 1988 — Condition: Near Mint-
With Shank on alto, Marcos Silva on keyboards, Ricardo Peixoto on guitar, and Michael Spiro on percussion.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of the greatest albums of Brazilian jazz that Bud Shank ever recorded – done with a style that's a lot more like some of the best bossa albums from Rio at the time! Swingin' The 20s
Contemporary, 1958. Near Mint-
Benny Carter swings material from the 20s – but the results are a lot better than you might expect! We'll be honest in saying that the cover and theme of this one always made us figure the record was some sort of "old timey" affair – but Benny's surprisingly cool on the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Contemporary, 1961. Very Good+
After having a bit of a minor hit with a crime jazz album dedicated to the music of Peter Gunn, Shelly and combo turn towards a less-remembered TV cop show for more music in a similar vein. Art Pepper

Trip
Contemporary, 1976. Near Mint-
The "trip" here is a mellow one – not the soaring, spacey style you might expect in a long line of drug-reference titles for Art Pepper albums – but that difference is a-ok with us, because Art's really hitting some great new territory here, thanks to a hip trio that includes ... Don Pullen

Tomorrow's Promises
Atlantic, 1977. Near Mint-
A strange and beautiful album from the late Don Pullen! The record is almost a funk album at times, but it's really more of an electrically-tinged session that brings Pullen's lively keyboards into play with some strident groupings that include George Adams, Hannibal Marvin Peterson, and Roland ...
