My Baby's Missing/Family Man

7-inch (Item 61057) Virtue, Early 70s — Condition: Near Mint-

"Family Man" is the cut here – a hard-vamping groover with some hard and skittish drums that really make the whole cut groove! There's some heavy tambourine shaking away with the drums and bass too – giving the track a jangly little groove!  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Labels have some aging.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

FoF (Sweden), 2017. Near Mint-
A pretty weird little record from Swedish jazzman Jonas Kullhammar – as you might guess from the image! The set featuers duets with Daniel Bingert – who we know from recent work on bass, but who, along with Jonas, seems to handle drums, keyboards, guitar, and other instruments too ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

"Don't Boom Boom" is a nice little fast funky number – grooving a lot like some of Vicki Anderson's work from the early 70s, tight bass and guitar dancing around some hard soul vocals that are very much in line with the beat! "Signs" is a pretty nice soul track, too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Stang, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Wonderful stuff from an obscure younger singer! Spoonbread was a bit like Jimmie Briscoe or Foster Sylvers – in that he was a kid singing soul with an adult-styled approach. The style really works well on "How Can You Mend" – done here as a gentle sweet-soul version, with a ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Zea, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Nice single from Jesse that has him singing in two different soulful styles. We're partial to "I Need You Baby", which is a great harmony-style ballad, recorded with heavenly soul production that's just great. "Home At Last" is pretty good, too, but it's more of a bluesy ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Buddah, 1975. Near Mint-
2 excellent tracks by this lesser-known east coast vocal group. The tracks were arranged by Norman Harris, but they have a cool mellow Thom Bell sound – and they both hit a nice harmony sound that we like better than most of the stuff on their album for Buddah! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Walter Jackson

No Butterflies/Ad Lib
Epic, Late 60s. Very Good
A monster – one of the rarest singles ever by Walter Jackson, and one of the best! "Ad Lib" is a fantastic track – sad, slow, and really politically conscious – with a lyric that's almost Marvin Gaye-like in its social consciousness, and which ends with Walter speaking ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
