Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Lost Man – Original Soundtrack
Uni, Early 70s. Sealed
Wild Quincy Jones score for this lost film starring Sidney Poitier. There's a wide mix of material on here – with some soul tracks by The Mirettes and Ernestine Anderson, some bluesy stuff by Nate Turner, and a few groovy instrumentals by Quincy, including "Slum Creeper" and "U ... Faces
Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good+
Like the music in most of John Cassavetes films, this LP's a weird mish mash of styles, sounds, and snippets – but it's also got a very emotional edge to it, like all of Cassavetes' films. Jack Ackerman did most of the music, and Teo Macero arranged and conducted all of it. Weird stuff, but ... LP, Vinyl record album

Red Tent
Paramount, Early 70s. Very Good+
Kind of a mellow Morricone soundtrack – written for this weird balloon film that starred Sean Connery! Bruno Nicolai conducted, and the whole thing's fairly orchestral – with strings and voices coming in and out – but overall, there's still a wonderfully Morricone-esque quality ... Music Of John Barry
Columbia (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. Near Mint- 2LP
A great collection that moves towards some of the hipper currents of the music of John Barry – after his initial work on the James Bond scores! There's still a bit of Bond – but there's also work from Midnight Cowboy, Ipcress File, The Chase, Quiller Memorandum, The Knack, The Wrong ... LP, Vinyl record album

CTI, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
A landmark album – not only for Bob James, but for CTI and the Fender Rhodes as well! Night At Count Basie's
Roulette, Early 60s. Very Good
Rare album of organ jazz by the lost Perri Lee trio. Lee was another one of the great female organists around in the early 60's – like Shirley Scott or Rhoda Scott – and she just wails in this live set recorded at Count Basie's nightclub in Harlem. A big added bonus on this album is ... LP, Vinyl record album
