Irma La Douce

LP (Item 607498) United Artists, Mid 60s — Condition: Sealed

(Mono pressing. Shrinkwrap has a large hole in front.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Andre Previn

Fortune Cookiese
United Artists, 1966. Sealed
A pretty nice Andre Previn soundtrack for this late Billy Wilder film that starred Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau – plus the young Judi West, who sings a version of "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" on the album. The rest of the tracks are split pretty evenly between light jazzy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Andre Previn

Inside Daisy Clover
Warner, 1965. Very Good+
A very strange soundtrack from Andre Previn! The film is an obscure Natalie Wood vehicle – about an actress in Hollywood of the 30s – and it appears that Wood is the vocalist on the album's few numbers with lyrics, written by Andre with the help of Dory Previn, making the set one of ... What's New Pussycat?
United Artists, 1965. Very Good+
The classic Burt Bacharach score for What's New Pussycat – a mid 60s sex-farce starring Peter Sellers and Peter O'Toole! The album features some amazing vocal tracks that have become enduring classics – like "What's New Pussycat?" sung by Tom Jones, "Here I Am" sung ... LP, Vinyl record album

Henry Mancini

Gaily Gaily
United Artists, 1969. Near Mint-
A rare non-RCA Mancini soundtrack from the 60s – and one penned for Norman Jewison's great adaptation of Ben Hecht's early Chicago memoirs. Given that the film's set in the roaring 20s, most of the music on the set has a feel that evokes that time – but there's also a few groovier ... LP, Vinyl record album

Lord Love A Duck
United Artists, 1966. Very Good+
A pretty darn great soundtrack from Neal Hefti – with some great mod bits too! There's a lot of groovy organ on the set – and plenty of go-go drums that give the tracks a garagey soulful sound that separates the record from most of Hefti's other soundtrack work – a slightly ... Africa Addio
United Artists, 1967. Sealed
Although this one's got a striking picture of Africa on the front cover, a pretty captivating title, and an Italian name in the composer credits, it's actually a pretty straight soundtrack – mostly strings and orchestral passages, handled in the dramatic mode that Ortolani used often on some ...
