Airwaves features mostly Ike originals, and all-in-all, it's a pretty decent batch of swaggery, southern bluesy soul with Tina's unshakable sassy soul vocals out front. Includes "Too Many Ties That Bind", "Strange", "He Don't Love You", "Dear John", "Honey Child Baby", "We Need An Understanding" and more. (Shrinkwrap has a hole in front. Cover has some light creases on one corner.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

The Ike & Tina Turner Revue shakes the foundation at Carnegie Hall on April Fools Day, 1971! There's a good reason for there being so many live albums by Ike & Tina – it's because they're damn great on stage – and this NYC set is a strong showcase for The Ikettes and The Kings ... For some reason, we find this to be the hardest album to find by them in the original. Why? Maybe it's because this is the one that contains their hit "Gloria", which is still a big one here in Chicago. This is the one with the frog on the cover, in case you can't tell them apart ... Quite possibly the best album ever from funky maestro Monk Higgins! The record's got some of his tighest work of the time – with plenty of tight breaks, nice keyboards, and soulful sax riffs – and Monk is going full-out on the arrangements, in the manner that he used for his best late ... Los Blues Volume 1
United Artists, 1971. Near Mint- Gatefold
A pretty hip jazzy soul group – and one from Nevada, no less! Los Blues probably picked a name (and an album title) that ensured that they'd never be heard from again – but the record's actually a really solid little effort, one that blends the brassy horn style being used by some of ... A goofy mix of groovy instrumental tracks with a weird "Apache"-esque instrumentation made up of some nicely processed guitars. No hangin out here – because these guys are tighter than ever, and right on the money from the very first note of the set!
