Great later work by Isaac Hayes – working here in a post-Stax, post-ABC mode that has him forging a smooth soul sound that's really great! The album's not disco, but more of an extension of Ike's baroque approach to arranging – with subtle use of strings and keyboards, in a real Philly soul way. Not surprisingly, the album was recorded at Sigma Sound – which you can hear especially in the massive groover "Moonlight Lovin' (Menage a Trois)", a great long deep groove soul track that builds and builds over the course of 10 minutes. It's a great one, and worth the price of the album alone – but you also get the tracks "Out of The Ghetto", "It's Heaven To Me", and "Don't Take Your Love Away"! © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
