The story on these sides is that they were demos the Alan Douglas got a hold of, from very early on in Havens career, and then had overdubs laid down at a later date, in an effort to get them out and capitalize on Haven's post-Woodstock success. We actually like the slightly raw feel which compliments Havens' soulful folk sound nicely, and the later production is pretty much in the pocket, not some crap glommed on to spruce up an inferior performance. Nine songs in all, including "It Hurts Me", "Drown In My Own Tears", "I'm On My Way", "Babe, I'm Leaving" and "The Bag I'm In". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
