❔
A surprisingly nice score from Riddle – and pretty different than most late 50s crime jazz LPs! There's a number of tracks on here that have a period setting, in keeping with the locale of the TV show – but there's others that are really wonderful orchestral numbers, shaded with the darker tones of jazz, almost in a Kentonian mode, with a range of expression that's almost surprising from Riddle. Titles include "Suspensful-Ness", "30 30", "The Untouchables Theme", "Ebony & Ivory", "The Loop", and "Eliot Ness".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Mono rainbow label pressing. A nice copy.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Paper Tiger
Capitol, 1975. Near Mint-
One of the more orchestral of Roy Budd's scores from the 70's, but still with some nice moments that give a good focus to Roy's piano. Night Of The Iguana

Kind of a strange mix – half dramatic tracks with a very spare, and almost avant garde approach, by Benjamin Frankel; and half Mexican trio tracks, recorded by Los Tres Guaramex in earlier years, included here on the soundtrack. The result is a bizarre shifting between moody quiet tracks, ... LP, Vinyl record album

A standout 60s soundtrack from the great Manos Hadjidakis – penned for a heist thriller from director Jules Dassin!
