70 Miles Young

LP (Item 601514) A&M, 1982 — Condition: Near Mint-

With Chris Vadala, Don Grolnick, Charles Meeks, Davis Spinozza, James Bradley Jr, Paulinho Da Costa, Don Potter, Ron Leonard, Larry Carlton, Carl Lockett, Bob Mann, John Tropea, Tony Levin, Steve Gadd, Ralph MacDonald, and Gerry Vinci.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Disguise
Columbia, 1984. Near Mint-
Chuck Mangione gets some great help here from Deodato – who not only plays keyboards on the set, but also arranged and produced – in a way that gives lots of the tracks the same soulful vibe as his own records from the time! Fun & Games
A&M, 1979. Near Mint-
The cover seems to imply that Chuck Mangione's one of the few cats who can play flugelhorn on a trampoline – but whatever the setting, Mangione's at the height of his late 70s powers here – blowing that clean, compressed style that crossed over beautifully at the time! Quincy Jones

Smackwater Jack
A&M, 1971. Very Good Gatefold
A great bit of 70s electric work from Quincy – and probably his funkiest album ever! Quincy's really stepping out here from the straighter and spacier styles of earlier records – going for more of the dirty grooves he was cutting up for soundtrack albums, and hitting notes that were a ... A&M, 1976. Near Mint- Gatefold
A surprisingly nice set – done with the same depth that the A&M/Horizon series had brought to Paul Desmond's records of the time! A rare larger group session that Gerry recorded in the early 70s for A&M – done in a style that's smoothly soaring, and a wonderful 70s extrapolation of his talents on baritone sax.
