Written by Georges Delerue in 1975, and featuring the sublime talents of Slam Stewart, who plays bass and sings along with his instrument, backed by a small combo that includes Maurice Vander on piano and Daniel Humair on drums. The sound of this combination is incredible – with a rumbling guttural quality that must have worked wonderfully with the film! (Cover has a small cutout mark and a tiny seam split – but is nice overall.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Dot, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Although Manos Hadjidakis' soundtrack work of the 60s is mostly in the Greek-sounding mode, this one features him hitting a bit of a western soundtrack feel – to back a drama starring Terence Stamp, Ricardo Montalban, and Karl Malden. About half the tracks are instrumentals with an ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mercury, Late 60s. Very Good+
Although the cover of this one makes it look like a saucy European film – as does the tag line, which reads "The Motion Picture for people over 18!" – most of the record's in kind of a dreamy period mode, with sweeping orchestrations that are a bit snoozy. Hard to believe, ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hurry Sundown
RCA, 1967. Very Good+
One of the richest 60s moments from composer Hugo Montenegro – a soundtrack that's penned with a mix of string styles that are a nice bridge between the differing instrumental styles that Hugo would use in the 50s and the 60s! Some of the numbers showcase Montenegro's strong ability to score ... LP, Vinyl record album

Warner, 1981. Near Mint-
One of Jerry Goldsmith's darker scores of the later years – a really spooky bit of music for this eerie sci-fi movie! Although set in space, the film's music almost has a horror feel – really close, claustrophobic, and tense – put together by Jerry with these brooding string ... LP, Vinyl record album
Airport 1975
MCA, 1974. Very Good+
Swirling strings galore – but served up with just the right mix of sex and drama to fit the spirit of this second Airport film! The music is a lot more complex than the first time around – and sometimes has these spare dramatic moments that echo European thrillers of the period, mixed ... LP, Vinyl record album
Cross & The Switchblade
Light, Early 70s. Very Good
One of the strangest chapters in the history of the breakbeat! When this weird soundtrack to a religious film starring Pat Boone came out, who'd have thought that it would become one of the most sought-after soundtracks for hip hoppers. Released on the tiny religious label, Light, the album's a ... LP, Vinyl record album

A really surprising score from the great Armando Trovajoli – especially if you only know his bigger hits of the 60s, or his lighter, more bossa-styled material! As you might guess from the cover, this one's for a horror film with a dark spooky edge – and Trovajoli follows the spirit of ... LP, Vinyl record album

An excellent biker soundtrack – very different than the usual bag! For this one, Tony Bruno has come up with some great instrumentals – many of them jazzier than you'd think, and a few with some nice funky Capitol instrumental touches – not so much studio fuzz guitar, as they are ... Live & Let Die
United Artists, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
Arguably one of the most successful James Bond soundtracks of the 70s – written for one of the most successful Bond films of the decade.
