so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.
Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for
the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl.
If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws,
these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that
since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with
the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records
are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible
for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt
to listen through them and note how they play.
The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Strong compilation of some of his hits from the sixties. One side's got TV stuff – like "Mr. Lucky" & "March Of The Cue Balls" – the other's got film stuff – like "Experiment in Terror" and "Baby Elephant Walk". LP, Vinyl record album
Nice nice set of some of Esquivel's best moments from his late-50s/early-60s RCA recordings! The cover's got Juan Garcia on the front, looking very cool, and the record includes a dozen groovy numbers that are the epitome of space age bachelor pad chic: "Poinciana", "Guadalajara" ... One of the maestro's greatest! From the instruments spiraling off to infinity on the cover, to the tracks played in the unique crazy Esquivel "wah wah" style, the album stands as one of the finest examples of (and obstacle courses for) modern high fidelity – a really dynamic set of ... A very very weird version of "Hair", rewritten as a mass, and performed in a church by the original cast, plus a priest, organist, and everything else that you might throw in if you were going to do it this way. The album's got all the tracks from the score – like "1000 Year ... LP, Vinyl record album
The birth of a sound and the birth of a legend – Martin Denny's first album in the Exotica series, and a record so great it named an entire genre! Denny certainly didn't invent the tropical style of easy listening that came to be known as "exotica" in the 50s – but with a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Pop Les Baxter stuff, featuring Les' piano with a full orchestra and chorus. The set includes "It's a Big Wide Wonderful World", "Vereda Tropical", "Exodus", "La Vie En Rose", and "All The Things You Are". LP, Vinyl record album
Wild instrumentals from Bernie Green – a bit like some of the tracks he did on the Musically Mad album for RCA, but with more of a trad jazz element in the mix, similar to work by Raymond Scott from the 50s. Players in the group include Mundell Lowe and Tommy Mottola on guitar, plus Dick ... LP, Vinyl record album
Slinky strings with a nice moody feel – recorded in a style that's like the best pre-funk work by the Mystic Moods, with a similar sort of ambitious and sensual quality! Most tunes are pretty dreamy, but there's also a nice punch in the rhythms on a few numbers – almost crossing the ... LP, Vinyl record album
