In Control

LP (Item 600293) Malaco, 1988 — Condition: Very Good
...

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Johnnie Taylor

Disco 9000
Columbia, 1977. Near Mint-
Disco 9000 is Johnnie Taylor's 3rd release for Columbia – a great batch of smooth soul tracks with a lot less of the "disco" that you'd expect from the title! Johnnie produced the session himself – and the album was recorded as a soundtrack (to a film that was later retitled ... LP, Vinyl record album

Fern Kinney

Groove Me
Malaco, 1979. Near Mint-
A standout classic from Fern Kinney – and a set that not only marked a big moment of evolution for southern soul, but also for the Mississippi scene as well! Once Moore With Feeling
Malaco, 1978. Very Good+
Mighty Malaco recordings from Dorothy Moore – one of the leading torch-bearers of the southern soul sound at the end of the 70s – and an artist who definitely knows how to keep things real! Backings are full, but never overdone – and although there's a slightly modern soul feel ... LP, Vinyl record album

GC Cameron

Give Me Your Love
Malaco, 1983. Very Good-
A wonderful later album from GC Cameron – a singer you might know best as the early lead in The Spinners – sounding quite different here in a Malaco Records setting! The album's got Cameron slow-stepping through some great mellow soul cuts – warm, sensuous tunes that work ... LP, Vinyl record album

Lou Rawls

Feelin' Good
Capitol, Late 60s. Very Good+
One of Lou Rawls' best for Capitol – produced by David Axelrod, and arranged by HB Barnum with a joyous, leaping, sock-soulful groove! The drums get nice and hard on the set – especially on the classic break version of "For What It's Worth", and the rolling righteous cut ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hits Of The Sixties
Motown, 1965. Very Good+
Motown bandleader Choker Campbell leads a sharp group of studio musicians through a set of Motown hits like "Baby Love", "Finger Tips", "Mickey's Monkey", and "Pride and Joy". The sound is surprisingly swinging, with a nice soul groove that's as good as any ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wilson Pickett

I'm In Love
Atlantic, 1968. Very Good+
Classic heavy soul from Wilson – with some great production from Tommy Cogbill, and a nice raw southern sound. The record features 3 strong early Bobby Womack tracks – "I'm In Love", "Jealous Love", and "I've Come A Long Way" – plus Pickett's own ... LP, Vinyl record album
Atlantic, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
