Dennis Edwards — Don't Look Any Further ... LP 5.99

The Temptations' former lead singer's first solo record with a huge 80s groove album, especially considering the mighty title track – the duet with Siedah Garrett and it's sly reggae influenced bassline and crisp popping beat. This is one of those records we appreciate a lot more with the passing of time and with a late appreciation for that bubbling 80s vibe. Era production notes aside, the songs here are quite solid and Dennis's voice brings the true soul! Also includes "(You're My) Aphrodesiac", "Another Place In Tie", "I Thought I Could Handle It", and "Just Like You". This Big Break UK remastered edtion has 4 bonus tracks: "Don't Look Any Further (12" Extended Mix)", "(You're My) Aphrodesiac (Single Version)", "Don't Look Any Further (12" Remix)" and a 12" instrumental version.  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Kool & The Gang

As One (with bonus tracks)
De-Lite/Big Break (UK), 1982. Used
Solid 80s grooving from Kool & The Gang – a group who inspired so many others in the early 80s soul generation, but who could still do it better than most of the rest! The style here is tight and smooth, but never too slick – and Deodato's giving the group some really great ... CD

Temptations

Truly For You
Gordy/PTG (Netherlands), 1984. Used
A great 80s set from The Temptations – one of the few Motown acts who managed to deliver great work again and again over the years! The production has some 80s traces that are slightly dated, but the vocals are still top-shelf all the way – strongly moved much more into a mellow and ... CD
Arista/Big Break (UK), 1981. Used
Full steam ahead from Linx – a duo who could easily come up with some of the catchiest soul of their generation! The set's got a sparkling feel that follows strongly from the previous Intuition album – bouncy grooves that take a clubby groove, and trim it down nicely – making for ... CD
Philly World/Big Break (UK), 1984. Used
The debut album from Bryan Loren, and quite possibly his best-remembered set – a batch of catchy, upbeat 80s soul numbers – all tracks that definitely point the way towards his later productions for other hit artists! There's nothing too fancy going on here, but Bryan's right on the ... CD
Gordy/Motown, 1976. Used
Amazing stuff! Arguably Leon Ware's greatest record – and one of the greatest Motown records of the 70's! The record is a beautiful set of interwoven mellow soul tracks, recorded right on the heels of Marvin Gaye's I Want You album, which was written and conceived by Ware, then taken at the ... CD

Total Experience/Big Break (UK), 1984. Used
A tight groover from The Gap Band – already past the "V" in their classic run of 80s albums, and still very might at the top of their game! The core trio work here with sweet production from Lonnie Simmons – a pairing that continues to set the group up above most of their ... CD
De-Lite/Big Break (UK), 1978. Used
Kool & The Gang sounding super-tight, but mighty right as well – a groove that still has all the great jazz elements of their mid 70s records, but which also has them picking up the bassy bottom a bit more too! The sound is not nearly as slick as their 80s hits – and instead still ... CD
Philadelphia International/Big Break (UK), 1972. Used
Billy Paul at the height of his powers – able to capture the ears of the crossover audience, yet still stay very strongly on message – all with this righteous power that maybe makes Billy one of the hippest mainstream soul stars of the 70s! Gamble & Huff are at the helm, and ... CD

Kool & The Gang

Force (with bonus tracks)
De-Lite/Big Break (UK), 1977. Used
Kool & The Gang's a little bit slicker and a little bit smoother on The Force than on earlier classic records – but thankfully, they're still getting on down to the funky sounds! The Force does indeed have more of a spacey boogie than a jungle boogie vibe, but they're still doing what we ... CD
Philadelphia International, 1980. Used
One of the most compelling later albums on Philly International – a killer mix of jazzy numbers that have a very different style than most of the other Philly work at the time! Even though Leon Huff had been banging around in soul music for about 15 years – most famously as half of the ... CD
