Green Tambourine

LP (Item 599090) Buddah, 1968 — Condition: Very Good+

The group's first full album from 1968 – and a set that's often dismissed as bubblegum pop, but which has a heck of a lot to offer! The sound here is a wonderful blend of psyche influences and sunnier pop elements – swirled up with a bit of strings, styled in the same catchy territory as The Strawberry Alarm Clock or some of the other groovy groups on Uni. Vocals are lightly playful, often with a sing-song quality, but with occasional rougher edges – almost like Lovin Spoonful – and titles include the hit "Green Tambourine", plus "Shoeshine Boy", "Rice Is Nice", "Fifty Year Void", "Through With You", "Blueberry Blue", and "The Shoemaker Of Leatherwear Square".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing. Cover has a small cutout hole and light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Biff Rose

Biff Rose
Buddah, 1970. Very Good+
Beautifully somber work from Biff Rose – material that's quite a bit different than his more freewheeling records on Tetragrammatron, and a lot more serious than his later joke-filled live album on Buddah! This set's got a personal, dark sort of sound that's somewhere in the territory of ... LP, Vinyl record album
Buddah, 1970. Very Good+ Gatefold
A really striking live set from singer/songwriter Biff Rose – a real contrast to his better-known record on Tetragrammaton – thanks to a loose and free presentation of the material! Everything But The Girl

Idlewild
Blanco Y Negro/Sire, 1988. Near Mint-
Everything But The Girl – smack dab in the middle of a great run during the 80s! An overlooked early 80s gem from Thomas Dolby – a beautifully mellow album that comes across with less of the quirky pop touches of his earlier work!
