Nicely swinging work from vocalist Ann Richards – a singer we first came to know for her work with Stan Kenton, but who's really emerging here as a strong talent with a voice that's all her own! The setting here is more upbeat than some of Ann's other records – with very lively arrangements from Warren Baker that dance around nicely with lots of jazzy touches and a nice percussive undercurrent. Ann's vocals are loose and free in the setting, too – with less of the icy mode of before, and more of a warmly joyful style of singing that really fits the record well. Titles include "Poor Little Rich Girl", "Blues In My Heart", "I'm Shooting High", "Moanin Low", "Nightingale", "Will You Sill Be Mine", and "Lullaby Of Broadway". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
