Jazz Keyboards Of Lennie Tristano, Marian McPartland, Joe Bushkin & Bobby Scott

LP (Item 597280) Savoy, Mid 50s — Condition: Near Mint-
...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Bird's Night – The Music Of Charlie Parker
Savoy, 1957. Near Mint-
A really well done memorial to the (then) recently-departed Charlie Parker – cut with an unusual lineup that features Cecil Payne on baritone sax, Phil Woods on alto, and Frank Socolow on tenor – all working through long, laidback takes of 4 of Bird's best known compositions! There's a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hank Jones

Trio
Savoy, 1955. Very Good+
Rock-solid trio work from the Hank Jones group of the 50s – a combo that includes Hank on piano, Wendell Marshall on bass, and Kenny Clarke on drums! Vido Musso/Stan Getz

Loaded
Savoy, 1945/1946. Near Mint-
A very cool full length set on Savoy – one that's a 50s issue of earlier material from their initial 78rpm run of recordings! Jazz For Playboys
Savoy, Mid 50s. Sealed
One of those classic 50s sessions in which a bunch of Count Basie players split off from the bigger group and do some great small combo work on their own! The album is leader-less in its billing – but only because all the players are so well tuned to each other, and have such a simpatico ... LP, Vinyl record album

Norvo may have cut some sleepy recordings in his day, but his early sides are usually all pretty great – especially this material, recorded with Tal Farlow on guitar and Charles Mingus on bass! Jazz Is Busting Out All Over
Savoy, 1958. Very Good+
A compilation album, but one that's classic enough to stand on its own – thanks to a rock-solid roster of talent from the mighty Savoy Records catalog of the 50s! Giants Of The Organ Come Together
Groove Merchant, 1973. Very Good
Twin organs back to back – and a heck of a hard-wailing set from Groove Holmes and Jimmy McGriff!
